Joanna Duggan, former director of fundraising and communications at disabled children’s charity Newlife, has been appointed director of fundraising, marketing and communications at Adoption UK.

She started her new role last week and reports to chief executive Emily Frith. She leads a 10-strong team and is responsible for a six figure budget.

Her initial focus is on clarifying and communicating the charity’s purpose, and aligning campaigns to increase awareness and engagement.

She is also reviewing and diversifying the charity’s income streams to support future growth, and helping to develop the charity’s digital transformation strategy, which will include a new website and CRM system.

Commenting on her new role, she told In.Comms: “Joining Adoption UK is an exciting opportunity to respond to the pressing need for support services, grow awareness, engage supporters, and develop sustainable income to ensure adopted people and their families receive the guidance and support they need.”

Prior to joining Newlife in 2021, Duggan was director of income generation and marketing at John Taylor Hospice. Her other past positions include roles such as head of fundraising at the Children's Liver Disease Foundation and regional fundraising manager at Diabetes UK.
