Crisis has appointed experienced charity professional Tamsin Baxter as executive director, brand, marketing and fundraising.

She has joined from the Refugee Council, where she was executive director of fundraising and digital, and started her new role earlier this month.

Baxter has replaced Andy Taylor-Whyte, who had been interim executive director, brand, marketing and fundraising, since Rob Halkyard left the charity last May to become executive director of charities, Guy's & St Thomas' Foundation.

She sits on Crisis’ senior leadership team and reports to chief executive Matt Downie.

Baxter has worked in the charity sector for more than 20 years, with previous roles including director of development at the Vision Foundation, interim director of fundraising at Scope, and account manager at the British Heart foundation.

Announcing Baxter’s appointment last week, Crisis described her as an “established communications specialist having led media, public affairs, campaigns and internal communications teams.”

Baxter heads a team of around 100 people at Crisis and will lead on the roll out and delivery of a multi-year brand, marketing and fundraising strategy, according to the charity.

Her priorities in the coming months will include reviewing Crisis’ brand, and preparing its Christmas 2026 fundraising campaign.

She will also support the charity’s transition to becoming a not-for-profit landlord and providing secure and affordable homes to some of the people it supports.

Commenting on her new role, Baxter said: “I'm excited to be joining Crisis at such a pivotal moment for the organisation. With more and more people facing homelessness, the charity has a vital role to play in tackling the issue across the country.”

She added: “I look forward to working with the brilliant brand, marketing and fundraising teams to build on their successes and mobilise public support to help more people find a safe place to call home.”
