The NatWest Group has hired Hannah Cane, former vice president, government relations and policy at Barclays, as head of regional and group public affairs.
Cane started her new role at the end of February and is part of a wider team that sits under Rachel Hopcroft, the group’s chief corporate affairs officer.
In a post on LinkedIn, Cane commented: “After nearly eight brilliant years at Barclays, working across public policy, financial services regulation and consumer affairs, I’ve moved on to a new opportunity.”
She added: “I’ve joined the excellent corporate affairs team at NatWest Group to lead Regional, Devolved & Group Public Affairs. Plenty to get stuck into over the coming months…”.
Responding to the post, Peter Gordon, head of UK government relations and policy, Barclays, said: “Thank you for all you achieved at Barclays Hannah! Our loss is NatWest’s gain! Good luck!”
Cane spent almost a decade at Barclays, which she joined in 2018 as a consumer affairs manager.
Prior to that she worked in external relations and business development at the Hestia crisis support charity. Earlier in her career, Cane was a project officer at international NGO the Stakeholder Democracy Network.
The NatWest Group declined to comment on Cane’s appointment.
